After we completed the opening sequence of our thriller we posted it onto youtube (link fo video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eDz7sdTBU0), also we conducted questionnaires which contain 15 questions and they ask the people who have seen the film what they thought of it and if it met with their expectations. This pie chart shows that the age range of people that completed our questionnaire was between 15 and 23. The majority of people that filled in the questionnaire were between the ages of 16 and 17. The certificate for our film was 15 so this allows us to see what our target audience liked and disliked about our thriller opening.
The majority of our questionnaires were filled out by males; however this doesn’t mean that the majority of our target audience will be males as there was still a significant percentage of females that filled in the audience feedback questionnaire. These results match that of question two on the audience research questionnaire. On the audience research questionnaire the gender that filled in the questionnaire was predominantly male.
On our audience research questionnaire was asked people what it was they would prefer to see in a thriller. In response the majority decided that they would like to see murder and action. Therefore in our audience feedback we decided to ask people if we had met what they expected to see in the thriller. Everyone said that we had given them what they had expected to see.
For this question we decided that we would ask people their reasoning for the answer that they gave on question three. The majority of people decided that the thriller opening met what they would expect to see in a thriller genre because it created tension and suspense which is what they expect from any thriller.
We decided to ask this question to see how clearly the thriller genre is shown in our opening. Some of the participants thought that the genre was shown very clearly while others decided that although it was shown it was very clearly shown.
We decided to ask the audience this question as in our audience research questionnaire we asked people if they thought that the music should create tension and suspense within a thriller. On the audience research questionnaire all of our participants thought that the music should create tension and suspense; therefore we decided we would ask if the music in our thriller opening did this; all of our participants thought that the music did create tension and suspense.
We decided that we weren’t just going to ask the audience if the music created tension and suspense; we wanted to know if it fit in with the thriller genre. The majority of our target audience decided that the music did in fact match the genre.
We decided that we would ask our target audience what emotions our thriller opening made them feel. The majority of people said that our thriller opening made them feel concern, interest and fear. In our audience research questionnaire we asked people what kind of thriller they would prefer to see. The majority of people said they would like to see a psychological thriller which is what we made and when asked why they said that it was interesting which is similar to why they like the opening of our thriller.
We wanted to ask participants if they thought that the black and white was effective in the opening of our thriller. The majority of participants thought that the black and white was effective.
We wanted to know why people liked the use of black and white in our thriller opening and the majority of people said that it was a contrast between normality and the surreal while others said that it was entertaining and sets a tone for the thriller.
We decided that we would ask our target audience what they thought of the use of stills placed sporadically throughout our thriller. The majority of people thought that the use of stills of the unknown victim throughout the opening of our thriller was quite effective.
We wanted to ask our target audience what stood out to them the most in our thriller opening. The largest portion of our target audience decided that the pictures placed sporadically throughout the opening of our thriller stood out the most to them. This agrees with question eleven which asked how effective our target audience thought the pictures placed in the thriller opening was.
This pie chart shows the reasoning to why people thought things stood out to them. The majority of our participants thought that things stood out to them because they created suspense, showed the genre and showed variety.
We didn’t want to just ask people what they thought stood out to them but what didn’t stand out to them. The majority of our target audience thought that the aspect of the opening that didnt stand out was the effects that we added to the film. This is a reference to the editing effects such as cross dissolve and dip to white, this is good that this result has come up because it shows that we may have used a little bit to much of it in our film and it may have been a little dissorientating to the audience.
This is a good response from the audience as it showed that they all thought there were not many things that ruined the look or the authenticity of our thriller. The unsure people can also be taken good because it shows that they thought that the things in the film that did effect continuity were not important enough for it to effect the film in too much of a way.
As shown most of the results that we revieved were quite possitive and it seems that even though there were a few slight errors whilst the film is playing it seems to be a success with our audience.

As you can see these are very good responses as they say how good they thought that the video was and even commented on the music and made them scared which are two of the aims that we wanted to achieve with this product.
